NATURE'S TREASURES

As I explore the natural world, I feel compelled to share my discoveries with a broad audience. Just as my involvement and appreciation of nature gives balance in my life, I hope to inspire others to find solace.

Observing, writing, photographing and sharing my passion for nature gives me great joy and satisfaction. With this in mind, I invite your comments and questions. Your input ignites my own creativity, ideas and furthers my research. Feel free to share.

Thank you for following my blog.

Yours in nature,

Marlene

Thanks for sharing Marlene. Your photographs speak to me and ignite my curiosity. I was wondering how you go about choosing what to photograph, since you’re surrounded by an enormous amount of nature all the time?

Great Question. Everyday is different. Sometimes I am consciously looking for something specific, like mushrooms, rocks, tree trunks, or a particular colour. Others times I just walk and unusual forms, textures or colours attract me. I look for the small things that many people would walk by; to me those are treasures. This morning someone reminded me of an exercise that I gave her in one of my nature retreats - she had to spend 15 minutes observing a tree trunk. That stuck with her and the things she discovered. At times, I find things that I want to research, so I spend time finding out which species and about behaviour. Every day I learn something new! And what I find fascinating, is that I can walk the same route and find different things each day.
